Russell Williams Porter (December 13, 1871 – February 22, 1949) was an American artist, engineer, amateur astronomer and explorer. He was a pioneer in the field of “cutaway illustration"^[2] and is sometimes referred to as the "founder" or one of the "founders" of amateur telescope making."

Knute Munson

 Knute Munson (1900-1967) studied under artists Andrew Loomis and Harvey Dunn. Through his friendship with Earl Moran, Munson began working at the advertising firm Brown & Bigelow. When Earl McPherson entered the armed forces in 1944, Munson took over the firm's popular Artist's Sketch Pad Calendar. Below is a selection of Munson's art for these calendars.
