Albert Arthur Allen was a photographer in the 1920’s.He photographed the nude in a contrived academic classical style. This is good reference material for you figurative art students that wish to practice your figure drawing skills.

Toward the end of the century Albert was planning a movie based on his meticulously choreographed tableau's of naked women. Unfortunately, the depression put an end to this dream.

  Would have been a great show…………………..  :)

It is important for an artist to study from nature.

It is also important to study the works of the masters to see how they reorganized or simplified nature’s complexities in their work to make it visually palatable to the human eye. As a sculptor I find it useful to draw from the sculptures of antiquity to see how a particular master has emphasized particular shapes created by forms within the body to produce a unified whole.
