In this case, the editors and artist agreed that it was unclear that the subject of this painting was the sound of the radio, a notoriously difficult idea for an illustrator to get across. We also reproduce a photo of a charcoal drawing of this subject, showing Rockwell's process of rearranging various elements to improve the composition. |
