    from the Prestigious Charles L. Howard Collection Udo J. Keppler (1872–1956) was the son of Joseph Keppler, owner of Puck magazine. He was a friend of Native Americans, and was named an honorary chief of the Seneca nation. His drawings and artistic style are amazing. This illustration captioned “The Partners” was for Puck Magazine in 1908. It depicts Uncle Sam with the weight of corruption, overcapitalization, taxes, speculation, and high tariff rails on his shoulders. The railroad stands beside him, grants hanging out of this pocket, he carries a mere string that attaches to the load. This piece is extremely detailed and shaded. The face of the railroad man has been edited by the artist. The right corner of the page has been folded and patched. Puck stamp on reverse.
